Long Beach Inmate Search Through LA County
The LA County Inmate Information Center is the main tool for finding people arrested in Long Beach. The site requires a first and last name. You complete a reCAPTCHA check and the system returns matching results. Each result shows the booking number, arrest date, arresting agency, bail amount, facility, and next court date. The arresting agency field will show Long Beach PD for people picked up by city officers.
The Long Beach Police Department's inmate information page directs visitors to the LA County system for looking up people in custody. This confirms that Long Beach does not run its own jail or inmate search. Everything goes through the county.
The LBPD inmate information page explains how to find people arrested by Long Beach officers using the county tools.
Note: Long Beach PD does hold some people briefly at its city jail for processing, but longer-term custody goes through LA County facilities.

Long Beach Arrest Disclosure Law
California Government Code 7923.610 requires Long Beach law enforcement to make arrest details public. The law covers the full name, occupation, physical description, date of birth, time and date of arrest and booking, location of arrest, circumstances, bail, release information, and all charges. LBPD follows this requirement for every arrest they make. The only exception is if releasing a specific detail would endanger someone or compromise an ongoing investigation.
The LA County Sheriff also follows this law for booking records. So whether you are looking at Long Beach arrests through the city police or the county jail system, the same disclosure rules apply. The law went into effect on January 1, 2023. It replaced earlier provisions and made it clearer what agencies must share about each arrest.
Note: Arrest records are public, but ongoing investigation details remain exempt from disclosure under California law.
Sealing Long Beach Arrest Records
If you were arrested in Long Beach but the case did not result in a conviction, you can petition to seal that arrest record. Penal Code 851.87 allows this through a petition to Los Angeles County Superior Court. Once the court grants it, the record is hidden from most background checks. You can state that you were not arrested for the charge.
The automatic relief program from the California DOJ also covers Long Beach arrests. The department reviews records monthly and clears qualifying misdemeanor arrests from January 2021 forward. Charges that were dismissed or cases that were never filed within a year qualify. No petition is needed for the automatic process. The DOJ record review page lets you check your own criminal history. The fee is $25 through Live Scan. Fee waivers may be available.
