How Temecula Arrests Are Processed
Temecula does not run its own police force. The Riverside County Sheriff handles all patrol and arrest activity in the city. When a deputy arrests someone in Temecula, the person is transported to a county detention facility for booking. The Southwest Detention Center at 30755-B Auld Road in Murrieta is the closest. It is just a few minutes from Temecula and serves the entire southwest region of Riverside County.
Other county facilities can also receive Temecula bookings. The Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside sits at 4000 Orange Street, Riverside, CA 92501. The phone number is (951) 955-4500. The Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning and the John J. Benoit Detention Center in Indio are farther out but may take transfers. Where someone ends up depends on available space and the charges they face.
Note: Temecula arrests show up in the same county database as all other Riverside County bookings.

Temecula Arrest Disclosure Requirements
California requires law enforcement to release basic arrest information to the public. Government Code 7923.610 lists the specific data points that must be made available. These include the arrested person's full name and occupation, physical description and date of birth, the time and date of both the arrest and booking, where the arrest happened, the facts around the arrest, the bail amount, release status, and all charges including any outstanding warrants or holds.
The law applies to the Riverside County Sheriff when handling Temecula cases. There are two exceptions. If releasing specific information would put someone at risk, the agency can withhold it. The same goes for details that could compromise an active investigation. Outside of those situations, the data is public.

The state system handles personal record reviews. For Temecula jail lookups, the county JIMS tool is more direct.
Clearing a Temecula Arrest Record
California gives people options if an arrest did not lead to a conviction. Penal Code 851.87 allows individuals to petition the court to seal a Temecula arrest record when no conviction resulted. Once sealed, the record does not show up on most background checks. The person can legally deny being arrested for that charge. Riverside County Superior Court handles these petitions.
There is also automatic relief. AB 1076 directs the California Department of Justice to review records monthly and grant relief for qualifying arrests. Misdemeanor arrests from January 2021 onward where charges were dismissed qualify. So do misdemeanor arrests where no case was filed within a year. The DOJ does this without any application from the individual. It covers Temecula arrests that meet the criteria.
State Arrest Record Resources for Temecula
The California DOJ record review lets you get a copy of your own criminal record. You submit fingerprints through Live Scan and pay $25. There is a fee waiver for people who qualify. The DOJ sends back your full criminal history, covering arrests from Temecula and everywhere else in the state. You cannot use this to look up someone else. It is strictly for personal review.
If someone was sentenced to state prison, the CDCR inmate search (CIRIS) shows their current status. You can search by name or CDCR number. The system shows location, admission date, and parole hearing information. This only covers state prison inmates, not people in Riverside County jails.
Note: The DOJ record review typically takes several weeks to process after you submit your fingerprints.
Temecula Booking Photo Rules
Booking photos taken during a Temecula arrest are subject to California law. Civil Code 1798.91.1 bans commercial websites from demanding payment to remove a person's booking photo. If you find your photo on one of these sites and they ask for money, you can file a lawsuit. Damages start at $1,000 per violation.
On the agency side, Penal Code 13665 restricts the Riverside County Sheriff from posting booking photos on social media for nonviolent offenses. Exceptions exist for fugitives or situations where public safety is at risk. The law was designed to limit the spread of arrest photos for people charged with less serious crimes.
